The accused had been granted bail by the High Court in July 2022. However, the Supreme Court later set aside the bail orders and observed that the seriousness of the offence had not been considered by the High Court.
The minor's mother had last month approached the High Court with a Habeas Corpus petition alleging that the Class VII had been kept in illegal custody by the CWC even as she was ready to take care of her daughter.
