Joseph “Joe” Patrick Balk, age 72, was born on September 6, 1950, in Worthington, MN, the son of Leo and Marie (Maroney) Balk. Joe graduated from Worthington Senior High School in 1969 and then attended Pipestone Vocational School where he studied merchandising.
Richard J. Lowe Richard John (Rich) Lowe was born on November 8, 1947, to Richard S. (Dick) and Laura Lowe in Montevideo, Uruguay, where his father was training pilots for Pluna Airlines. Moving to Miami Shores, FL, then to their new farm in Ransom Township in 1956, Rich entered the 4th grade at Bigelow School; he always appreciated the education and friendships made there. Graduating from Worthington High School in 1965, Rich attended Macalester College for 2 years and graduated from the University of Minnesota/Mpls in 1969. Having met Jan Hanson in 9th grade at WJHS, they started dating as college freshmen. After a whirlwind courtship of 4 years, they married on August 17, 1969, at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Worthington. A graduate of the ROTC program at the U, Rich entered the United States Air Force and served actively from 1969-1974, honorably discharged as a Captain. Alfred “Al” Luing, age 88, of Worthington, MN passed away on December 28, 2022 after a two year battle with lymphoma. Al was born on November 25, 1934 in rural Worthington to Virgil and Belle Luing. Preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 51 years Phyllis, and his son Scott. Survived by daughter Brenda (Dave) Dvorak of Minnetonka, son Tom Luing of Rosemount, daughter Debra (Paul) Lundquist of Brook Park, and daughter-in-law Lisa Luing of Tifton, GA; grandchildren Matt (Sarah) Luing, Joe Luing, Joshua Luing, Aaron Luing, Stephen (Anna) Luing, Jenn Kohrs, Danny (Dan McGrew) Dvorak, Britney Dvorak, Alex Luing, Austin (Hope) Luing, Taylor Knapp, Riley Knapp; great-grandchildren Bowen, Addie, and Boston.
