Richard J. Lowe Richard John (Rich) Lowe was born on November 8, 1947, to Richard S. (Dick) and Laura Lowe in Montevideo, Uruguay, where his father was training pilots for Pluna Airlines. Moving to Miami Shores, FL, then to their new farm in Ransom Township in 1956, Rich entered the 4th grade at Bigelow School; he always appreciated the education and friendships made there. Graduating from Worthington High School in 1965, Rich attended Macalester College for 2 years and graduated from the University of Minnesota/Mpls in 1969. Having met Jan Hanson in 9th grade at WJHS, they started dating as college freshmen. After a whirlwind courtship of 4 years, they married on August 17, 1969, at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Worthington. A graduate of the ROTC program at the U, Rich entered the United States Air Force and served actively from 1969-1974, honorably discharged as a Captain.
