Editor of the Reformer: Running for a local public office is simple. Especially in our current pandemic. Doing the job is hard. Or it should be if you are doing it right. Anyone can run if they live in the community where they wish to be elected. What they need to possess is deep experience with its residents, a sharp mind with vision for the future, and a gift for numbers and budgeting. Every town and village needs forward motion to renew housing stock, to attract commerce and to spread the tax burden evenly among all its hardworking citizens. From this I know there is still plenty of work to be done in Rockingham. That is why I am running for a seat on the Rockingham Select Board.

BELLOWS FALLS â The Rockingham Select Board has decided to hold both a Zoom and in-person Town Meeting in March.
The board also approved the warning for the 2021 Town Meeting Tuesday night, adopting a proposed town budget of $6 million, which town officials said was level-funded over last yearâs budget. Of the $6,021,089 town budget, $5,122,944 has to be raised locally.
As a result, town taxes are projected to see a small decline from the current tax year, according to the townâs finance director, Shannon Burbela. She said there had been a slight increase in the townâs grand list of taxable properties. The proposed tax rate is $1.0903, down 0.0087 of a cent.

Hoping for Biden’s policies, actions to be successful
I appreciated some of William A. Wittik’s recent Forum letter (“Biden presidency doesn’t bode well for America,” Dec. 12).
First, I am glad he accepts the reality that Joe Biden will be the next president of the United States. Second, I am glad he is praying for Biden. I have been praying for President Donald Trump for the past four years, in hopes that God would turn his heart toward compassion and social justice. Third, I am glad he did not use a misreading of Scripture to support some of his opinions.
