greg gattison lost both his legs. his car was hit by a roadside bomb as he was returning from a memorial service for two soldiers. since then he has become an inspiration to thousands. he even helped the new york giants to go on to win the super bowl. his latest project believe it or not is a movie role. he plays a double amputee soldier in a blockbuster movie, battle ship. i had the great pleasure of sitting down with colonel gattison for sunday s dateline. take me back five years ago. i was on my way back to my headquarters when my vehicle was struck by a roadside bomb. i was laying there on the ground and i just said, god, i don t want to die here. i can remember seeing the look on my friends faces. what was the look? disbelief, concern. i just remember telling them, tell my family i love them. that s probably the only part of my story that i think when i tell, i still get kind of emotional. you just don t know whether you re going to make it home. and he did.
