Recoveries lightly outpace new cases

In his daily Covid-19 update, Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah ( pic) announced 3,384 more people have contracted the virus while 3,774 were discharged. “The number of active Covid-19 patients currently receiving treatment is 51,783, ” he said. Selangor remained the state with the highest number of cases with 1,082 infections yesterday, while Johor had 777 new cases and Kuala Lumpur had 435 cases. Dr Noor Hisham also announced 13 more Covid-19 deaths, of which 11 were Malaysian citizens. The two foreigners, a 66-year-old man at the Duchess of Kent Hospital in Sandakan and a 42-year-old man at Hospital Kuala Lumpur, were dead on arrival. The Health Ministry also uncovered 17 new Covid-19 clusters nationwide, including one in Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur which has been dubbed the Jalan Telawi cluster.

PUTRAJAYA: The Jalan Telawi cluster in Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur, is among 17 new Covid-19 clusters detected by the Health Ministry on Thursday (Feb 11). In a statement, Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the new cluster has 21 confirmed cases among workers of a supermarket located on Jalan Telawi in Bangsar Baru. “The positive cases under this cluster have been uncovered since Feb 2, following a targeted screening exercise on workers of the supermarket. “As of Feb 11, a total of 150 individuals linked to the cluster have been screened, with 21 of them found to be positive, ” said Dr Noor Hisham. Out of the 17 new clusters, 13 are linked to outbreaks detected at workplaces.
