KUALA TERENGGANU, Jan 18: Four Terengganu executive councillors’ (exco) offices in Wisma Darul Iman here, are closed for 14 days from yesterday until Jan 30 after five positive COVID-19 cases were found in the building. State Health Department director, Dr Nor Azimi Yunus said the closures were to enable sanitation works to be carried out in the effort to curb the spread of the pandemic in the area. The four offices which were closed were those of the State Local Government, Housing, Health and Environment Committee’s office; State Human Development, Dakwah, and Information Committee’s office; State Agriculture, Food Industries, Plantations, Commodities and Rural Development’s office and the State Syariah Implementation, Education and Higher Education’s office.

Former Lord President Tun Salleh Abas passes away, aged 91

PETALING JAYA: Former Lord President Tun Dr Mohamed Salleh Abas has passed away just days after testing positive for Covid-19. He was 91 years old. His death was announced in a WhatsApp message by his children on Saturday (Jan 16), saying that he passed away at 3.20am. On Thursday (Jan 14) as-Salihin Trustee Berhad president and chief executive officer Abdul Aziz Peru Mohamed said Mohamed Salleh tested positive for Covid-19. He added that Mohamed Salleh - who is also chairman of the trust - was being treated at the intensive care unit of the Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital (HSNZ). His condition was reported to be stable.

KUALA TERENGGANU, Jan 10 Inter-state travel has contributed to the increase in Covid-19 cases in Terengganu according to the state Local Government, Housing, Health and Environment Committee chairman Dr Alias Razak. He said that as at yesterday the state recorded a total of 216 positive cases, and of the total, 73.6 per cent of the contributors were individuals who came from red zone areas.
