Off of queens to reinforce the queens effort. Reporter but by the afternoon only the front load ers were capable of clearing snow from some of the narrower streets. Weve moved over 170 front end loaders in to queens because some of those streets, a plow is not effective. The snow is too deep and theres not enough room so were literally going in, dragging it out. Reporter its all too little too late according to councilman eric orick. We knew the storm was coming a week ago. This didnt happen overnight. We werent prepared for the storm. We didnt know the magnitude, how much snow was going to fall, where it was going to fall. Theres no excuse. Its inexcusable. One man telling me this afternoon that this borough has been ignored. Another woman saying its dangerous if emergency crews cant get in or out of streets that can cause significant problems. You see the front loader. Were waiting to move the snow out of the way. That was Lauren Glassberg reporting. Even though new York City Schools were open today, a lot of students didnt make it to class. Todays attendance was 74 . Compare that to an average of 91 . Thats because much of the city is still struggling with all the snow. The mayor said today it will take time and hes hoping to get help from Mother Nature. As you know, whenever we get more than 12 inches of snow in new york city, Sanitation Department goes in to something called haul and pile. Do you think it is likely that the suspects are still in this general area . Were not sure. There is an opportunity to get onto the interstate there. Whether they are holed up in a residence in some nearby ilding tsere or whether they are able to get out t m take off and evade the police before they can set up a perimeter is unclear. This likely happened unannounced. This was not premeditated. Butrobaely they didnt have money, food or water. They need to et the basic necessities. They have to l ook for them somewhere. Well rely on the community to recognize these people, taking some efforts to obtain resources. We know little about them beyond this description. Two white men and one black man.
