On Monday, the flood situation in Assam showed signs of marginal improvement in the affected districts. Meanwhile, the death toll in the state increased to 134 and over 21 lakh people continue to reel under the deluge.
Assam floods: A total 2,32,002 people have been affected by the flood in 565 villages in Cachar district, 2,81,271 in 469 villages of Karimganj and over 51,000 in 98 villages in Hailakandi.
According to the daily report of the Assam State Disaster Management Authority, the floods and landslides claimed the lives of nine persons, including three children, on Sunday.
