Around 100,000 people in multiple districts in Assam have been affected by the monsoon floods, with 371 villages being inundated. The Dikhou and Brahmaputra rivers have surpassed the danger level. Agricultural land has been devastated across 3,618.35 hectares and over 59,530 domestic animals have been affected by the floods.
So far, three persons have lost their lives in this year's first wave of flood in different parts of the state, the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) official said.
The water levels in all the rivers were receding and none were flowing above the danger level, it said. In worst-hit Cachar, 1,20,118 people were still suffering, while 89,234 reeling under the flood waters in Morigaon, it added.
