Our Correspondent Diphu, Nov. 22 (EMN): At least six persons, including a forest guard, were killed in violence at the disputed Assam-Meghalaya border in the early hours of Tuesday at Mukrok under Jerikinding Police Station of West Karbi Anglong district, Assam after a truck allegedly laden with illegally felled timber was intercepted by forest guards. As per reports, at around 3 am, a timber-carrying truck was given a signal to stop at the Forest checkpoint at Mukrok but the truck did not stop and sped away. As the truck tried to flee, the forest guards fired at it and deflated a tyre. The vehicle’s driver and handyman and another person were then apprehended, though others managed to escape, West Karbi Anglong superintendent of police Imdad Ali told PTI.
