KLCI pares gains as regional markets hold steady

KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 16): The main index of Bursa Malaysia pared some of its gains in the mid-morning today against a backdrop of firm regional markets. At 10.10am, the FBM KLCI had risen 1.40 points to 1,609.47. The index earlier rose to a high of 1,612.04. Losers led gainers by 449 to 419, while 435 counters traded unchanged. Trading volume was 3.52 billion shares valued at RM1.44 billion. The gainers included Genetec Technology Bhd, Heineken Malaysia Bhd, Widetech (Malaysia) Bhd, Ark Resources Holdings Bhd, Sapura Industrial Bhd, Hengyuan Refining Company Bhd and Malaysian Pacific Industries Bhd. The actively traded stocks included DGB Asia Bhd, ARB Bhd, Dagang NeXchange Bhd (DNeX), Luster Industries Bhd and Fintec Global Bhd.

KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 16): The main index of Bursa Malaysia held its position above the 1,600-point threshold against a backdrop of strong regional markets. At 12.30pm, the FBM KLCI had added 3.11 points to 1,611.18. The index earlier rose to a high of 1,613.01. Gainers led losers by 532 to 278, while 708 counters traded unchanged. Trading volume was a brisk 8.28 billion shares valued at RM3.07 billion. The gainers included Genetec Technology Bhd, Heineken Malaysia Bhd, BLD Plantation Bhd, Widetech (Malaysia) Bhd, Petronas Chemicals Group Bhd (PetChem), Malaysia Smelting Corp Bhd, Dataprep Holdings Bhd and Ark Resources Holdings Bhd. The actively traded stocks included DGB Asia Bhd, ARB Bhd, Dataprep, Dagang NeXchange Bhd (DNeX), Lambo Group Bhd, Key Alliance Group Bhd and Pegasus Heights Bhd.

KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 15): The main index at Bursa Malaysia held on to the 1,600 threshold at the midday break Monday despite paring some of its gains, against the backdrop of firm regional markets. At 12.30pm, the FBM KLCI was up 9.89 points to 1,609.31. The index had earlier risen to a high of 1,614.92. Market breadth was positive with 538 gainers and 234 losers, while 727 counters traded unchanged. Trading volume was 5.56 billion shares valued at RM2.56 billion. The top gainers included Nestle (M) Bhd, Dutch Lady Milk Industries Bhd, Genetec Technology Bhd, ViTrox Corp Bhd, UWC Bhd, PMB Technology Bhd, Grand Hoover Bhd, Malaysian Pacific Industries and Central Global Bhd.

AirAsia Food to spread its wings to Johor and Penang next month

KUALA LUMPUR: Almost a year since its introduction in the Klang Valley area, AirAsia food is now set to spread its wings to other major cities in the country starting with Johor and Penang next month. AirAsia Bhd chief executive officer Riad Asmat said the business was recording a very positive growth, especially during the return of Conditional Movement Control Order between October to December 2020, and the trajectory remained promising into 2021. He said under its expansion plan, the company had started an entrepreneurial programme to recruit more talents to grow airasia food together in the upcoming potential markets, as well as securing more merchants under its umbrella.
