Ahmedabad, Jan 20 (PTI) Kin of 19 'karsevaks' among 59 who lost their lives in the 2002 Godhra train burning incident in Gujarat will attend the Lord Ram temple consecration ceremony in Ayodhya, a VHP office-bearer said on Saturday.
Controversy has arisen in Gujarat over carved mural blocks on a statue of Hanuman, which show the deity as a devotee of Sahajanand Swami of the Swami Narayan sect. The depiction has caused objections from spiritual leaders in the state, and a lawyer has sent a legal notice to the temple asking for the blocks to be removed. This is not the first time the sect has faced controversy over their comments about Hindu deities. Hindu organisations in Gujarat are calling for a resolution to the issue.
