JAMMU, Dec 22: Jammu and Kashmir is an exception in the country where crores of rupees are being spent from the tax-payers’ money for providing security and other facilities to the former Ministers and Legislators that too at the unauthorizedly held Government accommodation including Bungalows and quarters.
This was observed by the Division Bench of the High Court comprising Justice Rajesh Bindal, Acting Chief Justice and Justice Sanjay Dhar while hearing a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) No. 17/2020 highlighting illegal occupation of Government accommodation in both the capital cities.
Roshni Case: J&K HC adjourns 47 review petitions to Jan 28
JAMMU: A Division Bench of Jammu and Kashmir High Court comprising Chief Justice Rajesh Bindal and Justice Sanjay Dhar hearing the Roshni review petitions adjourned it for January 28, 2021 for hearing of all matters together as Court observed that all matters could not be heard and now the High Court would be closed for winter vacations.
On Tuesday, 47 Review petitions were listed which were adjourned due to poor connectivity. The J&K UT was represented by DC Raina Advocate General with Aseem Sawhney, Additional Advocate General who submitted before the DB that he was ready to argue the Review Petition filed by UT Government. At the very outset, advocate general of J&K DC Raina assisted by additional advocate general Aseem Sawhney submitted that about 21 review petitions have been filed so far but the registry has listed only 11 of them including the one by the administration.
Senior advocates ZA Shah, Jehangir Ganai, Sunil Sethi, Gagan Basotra, Rohit Kohli senior advocate and a battery of lawyers appeared for the review petitioners. Advocate Monica Kohli appeared for the CBI.
Additional advocate general Aseem Sawhney, who appeared for the UT administration, assured that copies of review petitions will be provided to the CBI counsel. These cases have now been listed for December 22 and the registry has been directed to list all the review petitions which are in order on the next date.

JAMMU, Dec 11: A Division Bench of the J&K High Court comprising Chief Justice Rajesh Bindal and Justice Sanjay Dhar today directed Registry to list the review petitions filed by J&K Govt and other private persons including applications seeking clarification/modification judgment dated October 9, 2020 and other connected matters on December 16. They further directed the Registry to list all those new review petitions filed upto December 15 on December 16.
The Division Bench also opened the sealed cover of the status report filed by CBI in the open court. The bench after going through the status report of the CBI again sealed it and returned it to Advocate Monika Kohli who appeared on behalf of the CBI.
