Faye Bridgwater in her studio Free to visit, the Artists Open Houses festival will see more than 1,000 artists open the doors to their houses or studio spaces to exhibit and sell their artwork direct to the public. The houses are grouped into one of 14 trails around different areas of the city and beyond. Each house will display its own unique character and atmosphere. Participating houses include the Regency houses in Brunswick, the colourful fishermen’s houses of Hanover, the urban warehouse spaces of the North Laine and cottages in the South Downs village of Ditchling.
More than 1000 artists are to take part in the festival
Registration for this year s Artists Open Houses festival is open until March 22 at www.aoh.org.uk.
Milton House, which won the Artist Open House award last year The free festival, which is the largest of its kind in the UK, sees artists and craftspeople open the doors to their houses or studio spaces to exhibit and sell their artworks direct to the public. It dates back to 1981 when an artist from the Fiveways area of Brighton, Ned Hoskins, opened his house to the public to view his work, and other artists followed suit. Last year s winter festival was held virtually, and artist and illustrator Sarah Jones was crowned the winner of the Latest TV Best Open House Award for Milton House, where she showed off 12 artists work.
