Soldiers share what called them to military service

The Army launched a new series of recruiting videos on May 4 titled “The Calling.” The campaign was designed to close the relatability gap between Gen Z and America’s largest military branch by offering an in-depth look at the people behind the uniform, according to an Army spokesman. Specifically, the animated series highlights a diverse group of Soldiers and profiles five Soldiers and tells their “deeply emotional and diverse origin stories.” The featured Soldiers include Cpl. Emma Malonelord, 1st Lt. David Toguchi, 1st Lt. RudSheld Plaisir, 1st Lt. Janeen Phelps and Spc. Jennifer Liriano. This effort is a distinct departure from previous Army campaigns because of the visual approach and the intimate portrayal of those who serve.
