Residents say most calls go uanswered at control room | Noida News

Noida/Greater Noida: Many residents who have been trying to contact the control room for Covid-related information have alleged that most calls go unanswered, unless they ring from unidentified numbers. Contact information and other details provided on government portals are also creating a lot of confusion among people. For instance, on the website of Gautam Budh Nagar district administration, Anurag Bhargava is still the chief medical officer and his mobile number also appears on the site. Bhargava was transferred to Ghaziabad in April last year. According to the residents, phone numbers of some of the hospital are also incorrect. Residents’ welfare associations (RWAs) have flagged the problem before the state government.

Ghaziabad: Eight staffers test Covid positive, testing hit at MMG | Ghaziabad News

Representative image GHAZIABAD: Testing at MMG Hospital has been affected as eight out of 10 staffers involved in sample collection have contracted Covid-19. While more than 600 tests were being conducted earlier, the centre is now managing less than 300, partly due to shortage of testing kits. “Testing has been severely affected. Some of our nurses are also down with Covid, which has affected overall work in the hospital, which includes vaccination,” said Dr Anurag Bhargava, MMG’s chief medical superintendent. An official from MMG hospital later said there was a shortage of viral transport media (VTM), which is part of the test, and a requisition has been sent to the health department. “Though RT-PCR or antigen kits are available, it is VTM that we are short on. So, we are not able to conduct as many tests as we wanted to,” said the official. According to sources, the hospital has less than 100 vials of VTM at present.

Representational image. | Ahmad Masood/Reuters India routinely misestimates thinness, overweight and stunting among adolescents because official data sources do not gather sufficient data specifically on adolescents, clubbing them instead with data on adults. This holds true across states, rural-urban residence and wealth groups, a June 2020 study says, showing up data gaps with wide-ranging implications for policy and programme design.
