BISMARCK, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – Junior Annie Nabwe took first in three separate events on Thursday as the Blue Jays girls took third and the Jamestown boys finished fourth at the Karlgaard Invite.
Nabwe ran a 12.33 to break her own school record and take first place in the 100-meter dash. Nabwe also captured first in the shot put and discus. Eighth grader Julia Skari was the only other Blue Jay to take first in an event for the girls, taking first in the 300-meter hurdles at 48.79.
Junior Brode Hillstrom placed first for the boys’ team in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.95. Hillstrom went on to place third in the long jump and fifth in the triple jump. The 4×800 relay team of Gavin Haut, Chandalar Rott, Kade Schumacher, and Micah Hoke finished first with a time of 8:25:52, three full seconds in front of Dickinson who took second. Jamestown senior Daniel Ulrich took second in the high jump.

Bravo to Annie Nabwe, a junior on the Jamestown High School girls track team, who broke JHS records last week. Nabwe broke the 100-meter dash record with a
time of 12.52 seconds, beating Meghan Orr’s 2016 record by 0.01 seconds. She also broke the outdoor shot put record, throwing 44 feet, 10 inches, breaking Jill Schlenker’s 2007 length by more than 5 feet. Nabwe, her sister, Yolanda (100-meter dash) and Meghan Ford (1,600 meters and 3,200 meters) are the latest JHS girls track team members to qualify for the 2021 Class A State Track and Field Meet.
