Blue Jay Girls Lose in WDA Tournament Opener

BISMARCK, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – The Blue Jays girls basketball team had a chance for the last shot in a defensive battle on Tuesday night but couldn’t get one up as they fell 45-42 against Bismarck. Jamestown’s Annie Nabwe recorded another double-double, finishing with 24 points and 10 rebounds for the Jays in the loss. The Bismarck defense brought the full-court press for the entirety of the game, and neither side was able to settle in on offense. The Demons got major production off their bench from sophomore Ali Gulleson who hit big three after big three to keep Bismarck in front of Jamestown. The Blue Jays were missing some key bench players because of illness.

Blue Jay Girls Fall at Watford City

JAMESTOWN, ND. (Newsdakota.com) – The Jamestown Blue Jays girls basketball team played close with Watford City in the first half before eventually falling 64-51 on the road Saturday. Jamestown was led in scoring on the day by Grace Hegerle, who scored 16 points for the Jays. Annie Nabwe finished with another double-double, contributing 11 points for Jamestown. Nabwe still leads the state in rebounds per game, averaging more than 10 per game, two higher than anyone else in the conference. Off the bench, Hunter Peterson, Breanna Oettle, and Rylee Joseph each finished with five points for the Jays. Ella and Katie Falk each had four points on Saturday afternoon.

Blue Jays Girls Win Big on Senior Night

JAMESTOWN, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Blue Jays girls basketball team dominated on Friday as they defeated Williston 71-29. Four Jamestown players finished in double figures, with sophomore Katie Falk leading the way for the Jays with 14 points and five rebounds. Junior forward Annie Nabwe finished with 12 points and eight rebounds, and senior Grace Hegerle contributed 11. Ella Falk had 10 points on the evening. Kaylee Panchot got the start on senior night for the Jays and scored a season-high six points. Off the bench, Haylie Hakanson had seven points, and Hunter Peterson chipped in with six. Jamestown improves to 13-6 overall on the year and will take on Watford City tomorrow to round out the regular season. The Blue Jays currently hold the #4 seed in the WDA tournament, holding the tiebreaker over Bismarck High for 4th.

Blue Jays Hold Off Braves; Win Fifth Straight

JAMESTOWN, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Blue Jays girls basketball team went to Mandan and never trailed as they defeated the Braves 66-55 on Friday night. The Blue Jays were lead in scoring by senior Grace Hegerle who finished with 16 points to lead all scorers. Annie Nabwe was a menace on defense and on the glass once again, she finished with 14 points. Nabwe is the current leader in the WDA in rebounds per game, averaging 10 a contest. Ella Falk contributed 10 more points for Jamestown, and senior guard Jordan Finck had nine points, all from three-point range. Off the bench, Breanna Oettle scored in double figures once again, finishing with 10 points and was stellar at guard. Katie Trumber chipped in with two. The win for head coach Andy Skunberg was the first for him in Mandan in his career.
