The remains of harvey caused significant flooding in nashville. Most of the flood water in houston is expected to recede by early tomorrow but each day the extent of the damage becomes more clear. 37 people were killed. Ten percent of the buildings in houston were flooded. There are shortages of Drinking Water and some areas are running low on food. There is danger from polluted flood water. This morning, states of emergency have been declared in florida, puerto rico and the u. S. Virgin islands as Hurricane Irma churns west over the northeast caribbean. Irma has grown into a category 4 storm. Sustained winds of 145 Miles Per Hour. The Leeward Islands are expected to feel its effects sometime tonight. School in puerto rico is cancelled today and the National Guard has been activated. A Hurricane Hunter flew into the eye of the storm yesterday. Irma is expected to strengthen over the 48 hours and southeast florida residents are stocking up on supplies. Its still too early to say exactly where irma will hit but landfall on the u. S. Senator Susan Collins became the third republican to vote against the legislation, a measure she describes as deeply flawed. Were here in new york. With all democrats against the measure, three republicans voting against the bill will sink it. This after a day of protests on capitol hill where 180 people, many in wheelchairs were arrested speaking out against the bill. Collins became the last senator to say she will not support the Health Care Repeal bill. The bill clearly opened the door to weakening the protections for people with preexisting conditions. One of the other republican holdouts got a unique message of thanks to his constituents. A plane flew over the monday night Football Game in arizona, a banner that said mccain, thanks for protecting our care. We would repeal and replace.
