But Oakland City Council president , Rebecca Kaplan and dan cob are proposing the citizen volunteers be able to over ride any Police Operational decision. Mayor libby who appoints the commission is pleading with the public to Tell City Council to keep the Police Commissioners authority as is. If the police chief needs the ability to respond to Public Safety emergencies. This proposal would give them jurisdiction over highly technical issues that are subject to statewide standards.
