The Restaurant Industry going to make recommendations to Governor Newsom later today about what best way to really reopen all the restaurants across the state. Fox 2s allie rasmus joins us. Yes, we dont know when restaurants in our state will reopen for Indoor Dining. There is no timeline on that just yet. But, when they do eventually, imagine going into a small restaurant with tight spaces and seeing plastic partitions separating your table from everyone elses. That is one of the recommendations the California Restaurant Association is recommending to the governor. Some of the others include things like only seating in the same household there, only family members, no large parties or groups, eliminating the buffets, sand salad bars, and bringing out Hand Sanitizer instead of salt and pepper shakers. Eliminating shared chip and bread baskets. The association plans to send this list of ideas to the governor today. Meanwhile, local leaders across california and in the bay area are discussing other ways to reopen restaurants. The city of san mateo is considering a plan that would close off sections of downtown streets to allow restaurants to set up tables in those stories. We know that because of social distancing, restaurants arent going to be able to use all their tables. And in order to open doors, they are going to have to have spaces out in the open air. San mateo city leaders are talking about banning cars on sections of 25th avenue and other neighborhoods with several restaurants. As for the statewide California Restaurant Association guidelines, the group says it is okay with the idea of including employees to have regular temperature checks. But the association is wary of having restaurants do the same thing for customers. Their concerned restaurants may be sued by customers who feel they have been wrong will wrongfully turned down because of temperature checks. Reporting live, allie rasmus, ktvu fox 2 news.
