The Bombay High Court on Wednesday extended the stay on the effect of an order granting bail to former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh in a corruption case till Tuesday.
The Bombay High Court formed a prima facie opinion that the bail petition of former minister Anil Deshmukh in the corruption case against him can be heard on a priority basis in view of the medical condition of Deshmukh.
This move by the agency comes after they had claimed before the Bombay High Court last year that sanction under Section 17A of PCA was deemed unnecessary since the enquiry initiated was post court directions.
The verdict on default bail plea on the ground that the Special Court failed to take cognisance of the chargesheet within the statutory limit of 60 days will be pronounced on January 18, 2022.
