Onset-based cluster produces 13 new COVID cases Wicked Local WAREHAM - After weeks with no COVID cases, the latest tally as of July 17 was 13 new cases, and six probable from a cluster in Onset. Wareham Public Health Director Patrick MacDonald said the town was working with the state Department of Public Health on contact tracing. He said they hoped to be able to confine the outbreak to the one cluster. The first person to test positive didn’t know where they had possibly picked it up, he said in response to Health Board Chair Amy Wiegandt’s question as to whether it initially came from a person from out of state.

Wareham Health Director Bob Ethier leaving post Health Board Chairman Dr. Amy Wiegandt made the announcement during the board’s meeting Wednesday. She said she was sad that Ethier was leaving, and that he had been “a huge asset to the town.” Ethier thanked her, saying he appreciated the praise. He added to the members, “You’ve been a wonderful board.” Ethier also reported during the meeting that the latest weekly tally of positive COVID cases in town was 16, and eight probable.
