The MIT Press announced the first recipients of the Grant Program for Diverse Voices. Launched in 2021 to expand funding for authors whose experience and knowledge of diverse communities informs books that meet the highest standards, the initiative provides support for the research and writing of new works.
Five teen group finalists from Palm Beach County schools will vie for up to $15,000 in funding during the Philanthropy Tank Finals Event on March 8 at the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts in West Palm Beach.
A new study, "Data Blind: Universities Lag in Capturing and Exploiting Data," conducted by UCLA School of Education and Information Studies professor Christine L. Borgman and MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) Press publisher and director Amy Brand, found that universities face serious challenges in capturing and using various data streams on campus, and these negatively impact decision-making ability.
