Saxena, who took over as Delhi LG in May 2022, had filed an application before the court on March 1, asking that the proceedings in the case be kept in abeyance for the period he is in the post.
An Ahmedabad magisterial court said the trial can proceed without L-G V K Saxena’s physical presence and took into account that calling for 71 witnesses twice would cause them ‘misery and hardship’
Patkar had submitted that despite it being the responsibility of the government to respond to Saxena’s plea, it was yet to file any response and was “indirectly helping the accused”.
