And there was this collision that was very violent and four people have died at the scene. The freeway is shut down. Northbound 101 approaching the 280 interchange and it looks like its still in the stages where they will not be able to let cars through. If you are thinking about getting into San Francisco, the best way to do it would be to use to 80. 280 will get you around the problem, pass that issue and do this. You cant drive on northbound 101 of the peninsula and drive to San Francisco because it will be shut down right before the 280 interchange. We begin with breaking news out of mississippi where at least 22 Army Paratroopers were hurt during a nighttime Training Exercise. The soldiers were taking part in a parachute jump at camp shelby about 12 miles south of hatters burg. Their injuries are nonlifethreatening, but some were taken to the hospital. About 650 soldiers stationed in anchorage, alaska, were participating in the Training Exercise. A camp shelby commander reportedly said the troops were injured after jumping from a c130 aircraft and wind blew them away from their intended drop zone and into a group of pine trees. So paratroopers had been stuck in trees for hours. The Mississippi National guard says about 80 jumpers missed their zone. Now to another incident involving military aircraft. Midnight a female driver driving alone in a volkswagen drove the wrongway on northbound 101. Were told she hit a taxi with a driver and two passengers. That taxi was a ford escape. In as a result of this crash. One passenger in the taxi was ejected from the taxi. The taxi driver was in his late 50s or 60s. No updates on the ages of the other three people who died in the crash. We are being told there was luggage on the freeway. Were not sure exactly where these folks were coming from. The one and two lanes of the 101 north will be reopened in the next 45 minutes. Thats what chp tells us. You have traffic over to the right being diverted, our cars are diverted to the third street exit. A messy scene following this the overcrossing on petes shot is the third street overcrossing. The four people who died in the crash, the coroner looked like it was on scene for the investigation. Incredibly sad scene that we see on northbound 101. You can see the far right lanes are blocked because of this terrible crash that happened just before 12 30 am. We understand the taxi driver was driving on northbound 101 with an active fair carrying two passengers when they were hit by a driver coming the wrong way on northbound 101. There is a volkswagen that was driving the wrong way, unclear why that woman was driving the wrong way but she crashed into the taxi and this is the result of this terrible accident. Everyone involved in the taxi and the volkswagen has died. There were four people in total. One woman in the volkswagen passed away. The taxi driver and his two passengers passed away as well. In the last 30 minutes we spoke with chp who tells us they are barely starting to investigate this accident and are not sure why this woman was driving the wrong way. We do not know.
