Surrounded the vehicle, but the driver tried to take off and dragged the chp officer. The officers approached the vehicle. An officerinvolved shooting occurred. Reporter ambulances transported both the officer and suspect to San Francisco general hospital. The officer was conscious, able to walk and talking when he was transported. The suspect had life threatening injuries. At the scene, investigators said they found no gun in the suspects vehicle. Investigators also looked over the two Law Enforcement vehicles involved. The officers in the vehicle Task Force Unit were representative of three agencies. Reporter this man said he heard on social media his childhood friend might have been the suspect involved. He said his friend is a good man. He was hustling to try to make ends meet to feed his self. Lucky it was not worse. Reporter the officer is expected to survive. One of those voters is ruline stein in des moines and she was bornin 1913, before women had the right to vote. She is 103 now and is a pistol. She came to see me last time i was in des moines, which happened to be the first day of early voting, and she came to tell me she was on her way to cast her vote. She had her walker, she had some of her young family members there with her, but she was determined that she was going to vote, and vote early. So dont let anybody tell you theyre too busy to vote. If she can do it, anybody can get to the polls. Get to the early voting places. Get to the mail box. Cast your vote. On the court, he was learning new things. Maybe he was learning new areas of law or skills. There was always a way to keep learning, even in a job you had done for a long time. I think that is incredibly important advice, which i try to think about all the time. I am in all of many of my colleagues that they have been on the court for a lot of years, but they are still thinking hard about every case. I think everybody on the court does that. Even people who have been there for really quite a long time. Im a huge fan of my colleagues for that reason. There is nobody there that is on autopilot. It might be the 23rd time ive seen this issue, but im going to think through this issue as hard as i did the first time. Think that she i has talked about her parents. She says that her parents memories remind her every day of the impact Public Service can have. She said she prayed every day that she would live up to the example they set.
