If the Fatima Lady Comets have shown anything this season, it’s they are capable of finding power hitting anywhere in their lineup, Nos. 1-9. It was Kristen Robertson’s time to shine Tuesday night. The junior third baseman drove the first pitch she saw in the bottom of the fourth inning over the left-field fence for a three-run home run. That blast was the difference in a 4-1 victory against the Blair Oaks Lady Falcons in the Class 3 District 5 Tournament championship game at Southern Boone High School.
On paper, it was the No. 1-ranked team against No. 3. On the scoreboard, it wasn’t quite that close. The first five Fatima batters reached base Wednesday night, and they never slowed down from there. The top-ranked Lady Comets dominated from start to finish in a 9-0 victory against the Blair Oaks Lady Falcons at Lions Field.
The Fulton Lady Hornets have one of the most potent softball offenses in Mid-Missouri. The Blair Oaks Lady Falcons knew their best chance to compete Monday night with the Lady Hornets was to score early and often. And they did.
The Blair Oaks Lady Falcons’ offense was rolling from the first pitch. Blair Oaks scored six runs in the first inning on the way to a 12-0 win in five innings against the Capital City Lady Cavaliers on Tuesday at Capital City High School.
