Riverbend graduation ceremonies start Saturday

ALTON Graduatiuon ceremonies are returning this year to the area, either in-person or virtually.
The area’s first graduation of the season is planned at Mt. Olive High School on Saturday, May 8. The ceremony is planned in the high school gym at 7 p.m.
Alton High School is planning two separate ceremonies to adhere to social distancing practices.
Ceremonies are planned for 7 p.m. Friday, May 28, and 11 a.m., Saturday, May 29 both at the Alton Public School Stadium. In case of inclement weather, both ceremonies will be moved to the high school.

Alton’s Public School Stadium will be a busy place during the month of May. One of the biggest outdoor venues in the Riverbend, three schools will host commencement exercises there, weather permitting.
Alton Assistant Superintendent Elaine Kane tells The Big Z as COVID-19 metrics improve, they will host their own graduation, as well as that of two other schools.

The Marquette date is Friday, May 14 at 6pm. Lewis and Clark will celebrate at 7pm on Wednesday, May 19, and Alton High will have three separate ceremonies to accommodate all who are graduating: one of Friday, May 28 and two on Saturday, May 29.
