The work between the orinda and walnut creek station could lead to lengthy delays this weekend. For b. A. R. T riders no Train Service between the stations today and tomorrow, but free shuttle buses will replace the trains. Now, for drivers, two lanes of eastbound highway 24 near the lafayette station are closed from now through monday morning for construction staging. B. A. R. T is replacing tracks, electrical equipment, switches and platforms. The stretch of track is decades old, dating back to the start of service in 1972. Now, this is going to be the first of what will be six upcoming weekends through october in which a full shutdown will be in effect. On other weekends trains may single track through the work zone. B. A. R. T. s board of directors says it is on target to bring Train Service to san jose for the first time by december 31. Thats if the Tr
Even considering changing building heights downtown. Reporter carla brown is one of five city councilmembers and the vice mayor. She says a lot of residents are concerned about the downtown specific plan which would allow for three and four story buildings downtown and open the door for high density housing on main street. The community would change forever, so theres a lot of concerns and as i said we had 250 letters thing they are not supporting dramatic changes like that downtown. We are new to pleasanton and the reasons we moved was because of the downtown area. Reporter carol moved to pleasanton three years ago with her family and says she understands the need for more housing but questions whether downtown is the right area to develop. I think theres a lot of areas that it can be done in and i dont think it should disrupt the quaint area that should be preserved.
