calling the vice president the p-word. so pence s aide saying, he said he appeared steely, rather grim up to that phone call the president. and he remained resolute though to fulfill this constitutional obligation, even as this mob descended on the capitol. and if you would expect some amount of remorse, from at least john eastman, as these riots raged on throughout the day, to a legal lie that he had created, well you are going to be disappointed. explaining why his legal theory about the vice president s role was wrong, you ended your email by stating that, quote, thanks to your bullshit, we are now under siege. we will take a look at that email. doctor eastman replied, and this is hard to believe, in his reply back to you was, the siege is because you and your boss, presumably you are referring to the vice president
that these people could be possibly brought to congress and held there, or possibly held in a dc jail. we re a long way from that, but there are a lot of options. what is clear is they re taking this seriously. they re not saying this is something they re going to have a slap on the wrist for. subpoenas from congress, especially during the trump era, they were seen as not worth the paper they were printed on. now democrats are trying to say we are going to have a real investigation, we re going to have teeth behind this, and of course they have the backing of president biden, who has been very clear that he s willing to waive executive privilege and he wants to get to the bottom of what happened on january 6th, what was the president saying, what was the former president s aide saying, what were the options in front of them, what decisions did they make. and so i think in some ways you can see this is a more serious phase and the lawmakers on this committee are saying take us seriously
the 2016 election. of course, the president has repeatedly suggested it was ukraine and not russia that hacked the dnc servers. that s a claim that has been thoroughly debunked. so here are some of those texts, really seeming to push the president s points. this first one, july 25th, it was the same day as that now consequential phone call between the president and ukraine s new president zelensky. so in this text, u.s. special envoy kurt volker, who we know abruptly resigned last week, he tested zelensky s aide saying, heard from the white house. assuming president z says he will investigate and get to the bottom of 2016, we will nail down a date to visit washington. so there s that text. then we really start to see the full extent of the coordination between volker, other top u.s. officials and even a key trump ally. so this next text is from volker to rudy giuliani, and also
headline. but the fact that she fired her and denied her access to the white house that day. there are people that didn t work out while in the white house and you find them a job at an agency and they have a few months to look and they work in some lower profile place for a while. there are ways to ooe to easee out of the white house. there aren t many soft landings in the trump white house. and proximity is power and i can remember going in martha s vineyard going out to dinner with reporters and the person who was the president s aide saying, i m not going to come because you have a few dinks and you re eating and off the record has definitely slid a bit during this administration and you can t say anything that is so juicy, from what i understand in the reporting, she said something that somebody then talked to somebody else about and you have to be so careful. off the record should be not to be pollyana, but off the record shouldn t slide. off the record is off the reco
