The bird was tagged at the Khas Us Nur National Park in Mongolia
AHMEDABAD: A greylag goose with a satellite tag from Mongolia was been spotted at the Navatalav wetland near Patdi in Surendranagar district. This has established that these birds migrate to the state in the winter.
This is the second sighting of the same individual bird, in December it had been sighted at Nalsarovar.
Devvratsinh Mori, an ornithologist who photographed the bird in the Navatalav wetland, said he had an in-depth discussion with officials of The Bombay Natural History Society, who said that this bird had been tagged in Mongolia. He said that he had opened communications with experts in Mongolia and is waiting for a reply from them.
The picture, once again, sent the state forest officials into a tizzy, driving them to promptly clarify that the cub was not from Gujarat
AHMEDABAD: Controversy came back to haunt Indian cricketer Ravindrasinh Jadeja after a photograph of him petting a lion cub went viral on social media.
Allegations flew that he had once again violated the Wildlife Protection Act which prohibits clicking pictures with Schedule-I animals. However, forest department officials were quick to point out that the cub was African, not Asiatic lion.

242 litres a day consumed by an individual household in Ahmedabad, indicating large wastage.
AHMEDABAD: That decade-old promise now sounds all too familiar, ‘Metered 24 x 7 water supply soon’. But strangely, not a fraction of that ambitious project has materialized. Firstly, the AMC is yet to formulate a policy for metered water supply!
“In fact, for a decade there was a complete absence of political will to even formulate a metered water policy, without which a 24 x 7 supply is not possible. Individual residents may be forced to pay as they consume water,” said a senior AMC official. Though the AMC claims that an average Amdavadi gets 183 litres a day. In reality, an Amdavadi consumes more, it is 242 litres a day consumed by an individual household, indicating large wastage.
