Yesterday two elementary schools, city hall, dmv and the county court facilities had to close because of bomb threats. Today two elementary schools were evacuated and a middle school had to close. Yesterday the mayor of springfield told nbc news he believes these bomb threats are directly connected to the baseless rumors spread online in the wake of viral social media posts claiming haitian migrants were abducting people s pets in springfield in order to eat them. I should note that the claims about haitian migrants eating pets in springfield are lies. There is no evidence to back up any of those claims. But that does not seem to matter.
