Firefighters said they found heavy smoke coming from the home when they arrived. Everyone inside the house was able to safely escape. Crews were on the scene for several hours. The cause of this fire is still under inveveigation. One person died in an overnight fire in des moines. Police were originally called out to a home on the citys Northwest Side for a report of a disturbance. Police say a man inside the home was threatening officers s en they arrived at the home. When police couldnt get the man to come outside, officers saw a fire erupt in the home. After breaking into the home to rescue the man, police say that man resisted the officers attempt to save him.
