New Delhi: The Indian Navy has denied that it is participating in an exercise along with the navies of Iran and Russia in the northern part of the Indian Ocean. Earlier, there were reports that the Indian Navy too has joined the exercise named ‘Iran-Russia Maritime Security Belt 2021’.
“The news reports regarding Indian Navy participating in Iran-Russia Maritime exercise is incorrect,” the Indian Navy said in a statement today.

New Delhi, Feb 18 : Indian Navy did not participate in the two-day maritime exercise of Iran and Russia in the Indian Ocean Region, said the Indian Navy on Thursday. The naval exercise of Iran and Russia known as Iran-Russia Maritime Security Belt 2021 started on February 16. Reports that Indian Navy is participating in the drill are incorrect. We never joined the exercise, the Indian Navy said.
Two days ago in Tehran, Admiral Gholamreza Tahani, the spokesperson of the drill, had made an announcement that the Indian Navy had also requested and joined the exercise with a select group of vessels.

India has joined Iran and Russia in a two-day navy exercise dubbed Iran-Russia Maritime Security Belt 2021 in the northern part of the Indian Ocean.
According to a report by Al Jazeera, forces and vessels from the navy divisions of both the Iranian army and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) participated in the drill, which kicked off on Tuesday, alongside several vessels from the Russian navy.
