A FOUR week long health festival is set to take place across four different locations in Millom and Haverigg. Week one of The Choice is Yours Festival will take place between May 31-June 4 at Haverigg Cricket Club, week two will see the event move to Millom Rugby Union Football Club between June 7-11, week three will head to Millom Rugby League Football Club on June 14-18 and it will end at Millom Cricket Club on June 21-26. Each day the festival will take place between 10am-3pm. There will be activities for all ages including arts and crafts, smoothie making and cooking classes. Advice stalls and workshops will be on offer from a range of organisations including West Cumbria Carers, Hope and Cope, Mind Furness and Men in Sheds.
Health and wellbeing festival to be held in Millom
A festival will be held in Millom and Haverigg to give people the chance to talk about their health and wellbeing to professionals.
The four-week Choice is Yours Festival starts on May 31 and will be held from 10am to 3pm, Monday to Friday at the following venues:
Week 1: Haverigg Cricket Club, Haverigg, Monday 31 May – Friday 4 June
Week 2: Millom Rugby Union Football Club, Haverigg Monday 7 June – Friday 11 June
Week 3: Millom Rugby League Football Club, Coronation Field, Devonshire Road, Millom Monday 14 June – Friday 18 June
Week 4: Millom Cricket Club, Millom, Monday 21 June – Saturday 26 June
Residents across South Lakeland are being invited to take part in physical activity sessions aimed at encouraging people to move for health. Move for Health is a programme of free physical activity sessions specifically aimed at increasing movement and activity levels for those with a long-term health condition. Thanks to funding from the Morecambe Bay CCG Population Health fund and supported by Active Cumbria and the South Lakeland Health & Wellbeing Partnership, sessions will start this month. Kelly Alty, development officer from Active Cumbria, said: “We know that the past 12 months has had a significant impact on activity levels for particular groups of individuals, and even more so for those that have been required to self-isolate or shield.
