Coldwater gymnastics team go over 130 points again, record 17 regional scores

Coldwater, MI, USA / WTVB | 1590 AM · 95.5 FM | The Voice of Branch County Feb 26, 2021 8:32 AM PLYMOUTH, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater’s girls gymnastics team collected their fourth straight team score of over 130 points on Thursday night at Plymouth but it wasn’t enough to take the win. The Plymouth Wildcats scored a 141.225 to 131.275 win. Coldwater Coach Kim Nichols said, “We took the opportunity to rest some of our gymnasts and allow others to pick up their individual qualifying scores. Since we qualified as a team already, I wanted to take the opportunity to get as many individuals earning their scores as we possibly could.”

Coldwater, MI, USA / WTVB | 1590 AM · 95.5 FM | The Voice of Branch County Feb 15, 2021 5:10 AM COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater gymnastics team hosted their 11th annual Stick it for a Cure Cardinal gymnastics Invitational on Saturday which raised funds for the Cancer Center at ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital. Five different schools from around the state participated including Escanaba, Grand Ledge, Jackson, Parma Western, and Coldwater.  Due to the covid-19 protocols, there were some changes to the way the event was conducted. The gymnasts decided to host an online auction, sell raffle tickets, and offer an online “text to donate” option as a way to solicit donations for the local Cancer Center. The annual tradition of the basket auction carried through online and the gymnasts raised nearly $1,000 from their baskets. Coldwater, MI, USA / WTVB | 1590 AM · 95.5 FM | The Voice of Branch County Feb 11, 2021 4:49 AM COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater lady Cardinal gymnastics team had their home opener Wednesday night in a double dual meet against Monroe High School and Ann Arbor Skyline High School. Coldwater won both matchups with a team Regional qualifying score of 132.925.  Monroe was second with over 124 points, followed by Ann Arbor Skyline at 26.425. The Cardinal home opener each year is dedicated as the Jillian Crist Memorial meet.  Even though COVID-19 protocols made things a bit different this year, the gymnasts still collected more than two dozen bottles of ketchup to donate to the food pantry in her honor.   Announcer Mark Crist and his wife Louise were on hand to award two gymnasts the Miss Con”Jilly”lity award as a thank you to the team for keeping Jillian’s memory alive. This year Karley Knisely and Abby Travelbee were both recognized.
