The Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved an ₹18,100-crore Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme for battery storage. The National Programme on Advanced Chemistry Cell (ACC) Battery Storage aims to achieve ACC manufacturing capacity of 50GWh and niche ACC capacity of 5GWh.
“All the demand of the ACCs is currently being met through imports. The National Programme on Advanced Chemistry Cell (ACC) Battery Storage will reduce import dependence. It will also support the ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ initiative,” an official release said after the Cabinet meeting.

New Delhi: The Indian Navy has seized over 300 kg of narcotics substances worth Rs 3,000 crore, the Ministry of Defence said on Monday (April 19, 2021). Indian Naval Ship Suvarna, whilst on surveillance patrol in the Arabian Sea, encountered a fishing vessel with suspicious movements. To investigate the vessel, the ship’s team conducted boarding and search operation, which led to the seizure of more than 300 Kgs of narcotics substances, the official statement said.

After a review of current liquidity and financial conditions, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has decided to conduct simultaneous purchase and sale of government securities under open market operations (OMO) for Rs 10,000 crore each on March 18.
The Reserve Bank will purchase these securities using the multiple price auction method at 5.15 per cent to 7.95 per cent interest rate.
