Okkervil River have released a new song, “In a Light,” marking their first piece of new music since 2018.
“In a Light” is an expansive country-rock tune filled with organ, piano, pedal steel, rich harmonies, and intertwining guitar lines that occasionally take the song into spacier realms and lead an exuberant closing jam. Frontman Will Sheff explained in a statement that he wrote “In a Light” with guitarist Will Graefe, and that Okkervil River recorded it around the time they were making their 2018 album,
Circles Around The Sun Confirm June 2021 Concerts In California

Circles Around the Sun will follow a run of tour dates in California on Thursday and Friday with more socially distanced concerts in The Golden State next month. The quartet announced June performances in San Francisco, Big Sur and Pioneertown.
The instrumental band features bassist Dan Horne, keyboardist Adam MacDougall, drummer Mark Levy and guitarist Scott Metzger. CATS’ May shows are their first West Coast gigs with Metzger and first live, in-person concerts since the pandemic began.

Circles Around The Sun begin the June run with early and late shows at The Chapel’s Outdoor Stage in San Francisco on June 3. Then, the four-piece plays Henry Miller Memorial Library in Big Sur on June 4 before they are currently scheduled to end the excursion at Pappy & Harriet’s in Pioneertown on June 6.
