Pool Operations To Return To Normal This Summer - MyVeronaNJ

The Verona Town Council voted Monday night to approve rates for the Verona Pool for this summer and to affirm that the pool will once again open on Memorial Day. The 2021 pool rates are about a 2% increase from 2019; rates were lowered last summer because the pool season was shortened by the pandemic. For 2021, Family memberships will be $485, while Family with Babysitter will be $590. The Couples badge will be $450, Parent/Child will be $425 and an individual membership will be $320. The cost of Senior Citizen membership will be unchanged at $165 per person.  The pool will be open on weekends only as of Memorial Day; the full season begins after school ends in June. Pool hours are Monday through Thursday from noon to 8 p.m., and Friday from noon to 9 p.m. On Saturday and Sunday, the pool is open 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., with an adults-only hour from 10 to 11 a.m. both days. Verona is not offering an evenings-only membership this year.

Green Energy Program Now Offers 100% Renewable Power - MyVeronaNJ

Two years ago, Verona unveiled a way for residents to get more of their electricity from renewable energy than they could get from PSE&G. The initial Sustainable Essex Alliance contract expired in December, and the new contract offers homeowners a chance to get all of their electricity from renewable sources. Renewable energy is power produced by sunlight, wind, rain, tides, plants, algae or geothermal heat, sources that cause less damage to the environment than fossil fuels. Coal, natural gas, and oil damage the environment when they are mined or extracted, and when they are burned to generate electricity they give off gases that are a major factor in climate change.

New Jersey 2020 Skillful Angler Program Winners

New Jersey 2020 Skillful Angler Program Winners This year marks the 38th anniversary of the New Jersey Division of Fish and Wildlife’s Skillful Angler Program. For almost four decades the Division has been recognizing anglers who catch fish of “not quite record” size but large enough to have tested the angler’s skill and be worthy of recognition in each of the freshwater and marine species categories. The Skillful Angler Program is designed to supplement the New Jersey State Record Fish Program. Significant changes were made in January of 2015. Although the program’s three divisions remained the same (Adult, Junior, and Catch and Release), there are now categories creating more opportunities for qualifying fish to earn the angler a series of personalized certificates:
