CEO hires Alison Jefferson as new facilitator Courtesy of Holly Spangler, Prairie Farmer Special to McDonough County Voice, USA TODAY NETWORK MACOMB – McDonough County CEO is pleased to announce Alison Jefferson will serve as their new facilitator, providing leadership and organization for this year’s CEO students. “I want to continue to build upon this first-class program for our participants through valuable business site-visits, inspiring speakers, and facilitating meaningful discussion and self-reflection in the classroom,” said Jefferson, a Colchester native. “I hope to learn just as much as our students.” Prior to this position, Jefferson served as program director for the Illinois Agricultural Leadership Foundation and has experience advising students at the collegiate level. According to McDonough CEO board chair Sarah Grant, the combination of those skills makes Jefferson uniquely qualified for the CEO facilitator position.

Bushnell/Prairie City school board approves new school schedule Tabi Jozwick Special to McDonough County Voice, USA TODAY NETWORK BUSHNELL The Bushnell-Prairie City CUSD 170 Board voted to approve changes to the junior high school schedule, including the creation of a 12 period day. Incoming junior high school principal Nathan Harrison said the changes in the schedule will allow students to participate in fine arts and agriculture electives for all three grade levels and will provide additional reading, writing and math instruction. He said his goal of expanding reading, writing and math instruction was to help junior high students do well in all subjects, not just their language arts and math classes. Both Superintendent Kathy Dinger and school board member John Oakman said additional reading and writing instruction would help students out in their science and social studies classes. Each year, the Association of Illinois Electric Cooperatives hosts Youth Day, bringing together more than 300 students in Springfield from across the state representing their local electric and telephone cooperatives. Rachel Kerns, Director of Marketing and PR for McDonough Telephone stated, “Youth Day is one of the Cooperative’s biggest youth events, recognizing exceptional local students.” The annual event brings leadership lessons, tours of historical sites, and a visit to the State Capitol to meet with senators and representatives.
