What we know about the youngest COVID-19 death in Middlesex-London

LONDON, ONT. The Middlesex-London Health Unit (MLHU) is reporting 94 new COVID-19 cases Thursday, and three new deaths including an 18-year-old male. It is the most deaths reported in a single day in several weeks, with the highest ever - seven deaths - reported Jan. 17. The 18-year-old represents the youngest victim from the region to date. MLHU Medical Officer of Heath Dr. Chris Mackie says there are few details available at the moment about the death other than that he was admitted to hospital in respiratory distress and died the same day. Unfortunately other people in his family are also sick and so it s difficult for us to get full data. At this point we know this is a not person who was in post-secondary, we don t believe that this was a person who was a high school student either.at this point. We also dont know if there were underlying medical conditions.

Middlesex-London returns to triple-digit COVID-19 case counts

MIDDLESEX CENTRE, ONT. The Middlesex-London Health Unit (MLHU) is reporting 113 new COVID-19 cases Wednesday, and one new deaths. The total marks a return to triple-digit counts not seen since Saturday, after 75 cases were reported Tuesday and 46 on Monday – a low count due in part to a data outage. The region now has a total of 10,811 cases, with 9,702 resolved leaving 906 active cases. The new death, a man in his 80s, brings that total to 203. There are 1,646 cases with a variant of concern, largely the B.1.1.7 variant that originated in the U.K., but the region also saw its first B.1.617 case reported Tuesday – the variant first found in India.

Alex Peter Passes | Standardbred Canada

Longtime harness racing industry participant Alex Peter of Melbourne, Ont. passed away on April 28, 2021 at the age of 90. Alex passed away peacefully at Glendale Crossing in London, Ont. with all his children close by to spend time with him, as was his wish. Alex was born in Spiritwood, Sask., June 29, 1930. He moved from Saskatchewan to Ontario with his family in the mid-1930 s. In 1954 he married Helen Farkas and together they raised the 5 J s (Jen, Joe, Jul, Jod and Jon). In 1957, he began working with Harold Row & Sons selling Badger farm equipment. He received many sales awards throughout the years and in 1989 sold his business, Alex Peter & Sons. Being a community-minded man, he stayed active with the local Lions club selling raffle tickets, volunteering at bingos and fundraising for the local Lion s senior housing complex which he resided in for several years.
