45 new COVID-19 cases reported in Waterloo region Thursday after data cleaning error
Cases in Waterloo region have fluctuated over the last few days, which public health officials say is normal. The region saw 45 new COVID-19 cases reported Thursday. Overall, case rates in the community continue to move in the right direction at this time, a spokesperson said.

People need to act to drive region s COVID-19 case rates lower: Dr. Hsiu-Li Wang
Region of Waterloo Public Health reported 43 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday. In speaking to regional council, medical officer of health Dr. Hsiu-Li Wang said while case trends are moving in the right direction, rates remain high.

Region of Waterloo Public Health reported 81 new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday, putting the overall case count at 14,807.
46 people are receiving treatment in hospital - 35 are in intensive care.
The active caseload is 491.
No new deaths were reported, leaving the local death toll at 254.

220,629 doses of the COVID vaccine have been administered - 16,600 people in the region have been fully vaccinated (2.82 per cent)
2,331 cases have screened positive for variants of concern - 2,035 are the U.K. strain - two are linked to the variant first detected in South Africa - 17 are linked to the strain first found in Brazil - 277 cases where a mutation has been detected

Region of Waterloo Public Health reported 54 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday. 45 were from Thursday, the other nine were added to previous daily totals.
It puts the overall case count at 14,621.
52 people are receiving treatment in hospital - 37 are in intensive care.
The active caseload has dropped to 498.
No new deaths were reported on Friday. The local death toll is at 253.
