According to the trends and results for 1,536 seats, BJP candidates have either won or are leading on 491 seats. Samajwadi Party (SP) is also ahead on 364 seats in the trends.

The three-tier panchayat polls in Uttar Pradesh holds importance for the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Opposition - Samajwadi Party (SP), Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and Congress as the state is all set to contest assembly elections in 2022. BJP is seeing an edge at the moment, however, SP and independents are also doing well.

Amethi, Feb 12 : The body of the 22-year-old nephew of former UP minister, Gayatri Prajapati, was found on the railway tracks in Amethi on Friday morning.
Shubham, the deceased was son of Prajapati s younger brother, Jagdish Prasad Prajapati, and was a college student.
He was missing since Thursday evening
Around 9 a.m, the local people spotted the body and informed police.
Police circle officer, Arpit Kapoor said that the body has been sent for autopsy by government railway police Pratapgarh and further investigations are on.

Lucknow, Feb 11 : Former UP minister Gayatri Prajapati, arrested earlier, has been sent to a seven-day Enforcement Directorate (ED) custody by a special court in a money laundering case linked to disproportionate assets.
His ED custody begins on Thursday.
Prajapati was booked in January this year by the ED in a fresh money laundering case after analysing an Uttar Pradesh Police vigilance FIR filed against him on charges of possessing alleged disproportionate assets.
The ED had sought at least 10 days custody of Gayatri Prajapati from the court to dig out details of funds and 59 immovable properties worth Rs 20.90 crore , allegedly amassed by the former minister and his family members using purported proceeds of crime earned from illegal mining and other avenues.
A special PMLA court here on Wednesday sent former Uttar Pradesh cabinet minister Gayatri Prajapati to a seven-day Enforcement Directorate (ED) custody after he was arrested by the agency in a money laundering case linked to disproportionate assets, officials said.
