Timken Awards Annual Scholarships to Develop Next Generation of Innovators and Leaders

The Timken Company (NYSE: TKR; www.timken.com) is helping to fund the futures of 20 students in pursuit of careers ranging from artificial intelligence and engineering to nursing and psychology. In a virtual awards ceremony today, the company presented college scholarships to the children of Timken associates in eight countries: United States, Brazil, Canada, China, France, India, Italy and Poland. Since the scholarship program's inception in 1958, The Timken Company Charitable and Educational Fund has awarded more than $25 million in scholarships.

Chicago Scholars accepting applications for 2026 graduation class, offers mentorship, merit-based scholarships

CHICAGO (WLS) Chicago Scholars is now accepting applications for the 2026 graduation class program. Chicago Scholars helps students through the college process. The organization mentors under-resourced or first-generation students. It specifically works to find ambitious students and helps them meet their goals. Once students are enrolled in college, they continue to receive support. The 2026 graduating class will also have the chance to attend the Chicago Scholars Onsite College and Leadership Forum. It is a one day event that typically sees more than 1,100 offers of admission and $42 million in merit aid. For more information on the program, click here.

Neha Gupte wins Alachua County School District Spelling Bee

Neha Gupte, a sixth-grader at Lincoln Middle School, won the 2021 Alachua District Spelling Bee by correctly spelling the name of a legendary Scottish paradise that never changes Brigadoon. “I didn’t know the story of Brigadoon, but I was able to sound it out,” said Neha after the competition. “My mom also used that word during one of our practices, so I’d already heard it.” Neha was one of 28 fifth- through eighth-graders from public, charter, private and homeschool settings who competed recently for the title of the district’s top speller. Because of COVID-19, the competition was held through Zoom with a very limited audience.
