The Pakistan Railways has suspended five officers for showing negligence during the Rohri train accident on March 6.
One woman was killed and 30 others injured after Karachi Express, travelling from Karachi to Lahore, derailed between the Mando Dairo and Sangi stations. According to railways officials, nine bogies of the train, including Economy and AC class, derailed.
An inquiry report revealed that the accident occurred because the train’s structure was quite weak. It added that the condition became worse because the driver was speeding.

LAHORE: A probe has been launched into the Karachi Express train accident near Sukkur early on Sunday under the federal government inspector of railways (FGIR) who has been asked to submit a report to the railways ministry within 48 hours.
A brief preliminary report has identified “poor condition of the track” as the main reason for the accident that left a woman dead and about 13 passengers injured.
Meanwhile, the operation to clear the affected track of debris was completed 50 per cent 16 hours after the accident. The work started at 3am on Saturday night and continued till filing of this report on Sunday night.

The casualties from the derailment of passenger coaches of the Karachi Express late Saturday night in Sukkur district included one death and at least 30 injured, it emerged on Sunday.
The accident - the cause of which still remains a mystery - happened between Mundo Dero and Sangi railway stations around half an hour after the train left Rohri station at 1.15am on Saturday night.
Ten bogies of the 15-Up Karachi Express, which was carrying passengers from the port city to Lahore, derailed while four of them fell from the elevated track to the ground several feet deep. The bogies included AC and economy coaches.
