PlayStation controllers are all the rage nowadays. PS5 pads are selling well, PS4 controllers were some of the previous generation s best-selling accessories, and last week s announcement that more colours are on the way for the current-gen gizmo went down a treat. While there s no way of tracking pre-order numbers, the trailer that revealed the new PS5 DualSense controller colours of Midnight Black and Cosmic Red currently sits on 1.3 million views. It has already beaten the recent Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart State of Play gameplay presentation by a significant margin in just two days. The demand and interest are plain to see PS5 owners want new controller colours.
PlayStation Talents Brings Aeterna Noctis to PS5, PS4 in December
PlayStation Talents is a relativity low-profile scheme run by Sony that helps the smallest developers across Spain bring their games to consoles, and the initiative has now revealed its latest endeavour. Aeternum Game Studios will be releasing Aeterna Noctis for both PS5 and PS4 on 15th December 2021, bringing with it a 2D experience all about fast-paced combat and tough puzzle platforming. It will be fully localised for eight different languages through the help of PlayStation Talents, greatly expanding the scope of the title.

Subnautica Enjoys Drastic File Size Reduction on PS5

Sony talked briefly prior to release about how the PlayStation 5’s uber-fast SSD would help reduce file sizes, and we’ve started to see the results in action. Many games launching on the next-gen console have smaller footprints than their PS4 siblings, and in some cases the difference is dramatic. Subnautica, which was re-released on PS5 last week, is a good example.
Twisted Voxel notes that the PS4 version of the game – with all of its updates installed – takes up 14GB of space. However, its re-release on the PS5 requires just 3.5GB – an impressive 70 per cent reduction. Obviously, we’d still argue the console’s included 825GB is on the small size, but if developers can continue to optimise their titles like this, then that SSD should go a long way.
