Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir gave the reaction on Sunday night after talking to the doctors at Evercare Hospital in Dhaka where Khaleda is undergoing treatment.
Fakhrul said it appeared to him that the party chief’s health was improving.
The 76-year-old former prime minister was admitted to the hospital on Apr 27 after she tested positive for the coronavirus on Apr 11. She has underlying health conditions.

DHAKA, May 09, 2021 (BSS) â Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal today said BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia will not go abroad for treatment as the law ministry said that the convicted accused has no chance to go abroad.
âThe law ministry gave the opinion in response to a petition filed by BNP chairperson Khaleda Ziaâs brother Shamim Iskander seeking medical treatment abroad,â he told reporters at his ministry office.
Kamal said that according to the opinion of the law ministry, their (Khaleda Ziaâs brother) application could not be granted, adding, âI have done as much as I have to do according to the law. But we canât do anything outside the law.â

The family of Peju Ugboma, a Lagos State-based chef, has accused a private hospital, Premier Specialist Medical Centre, Victoria Island, of negligence leading to the untimely death of their daughter.
The Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja, had carried out an independent autopsy on Peju which revealed that she suffered internal bleeding.
The home boss had earlier said the government would actively consider the plea on humanitarian grounds. The law ministry has informed us that Khaleda Zia cannot go abroad unless her sentence is commuted. In the light of this, the application of Khaleda Zia s family will not be granted, Asaduzzaman said at his Secretariat office yesterday.
He also said they would soon inform the BNP chief s family of their decision.
The minister mentioned that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina gave Khaleda the opportunity to receive treatment at home at her convenience following suspension of her sentence on humanitarian grounds.
Khaleda later got infected with Covid-19 and was admitted to Evercare Hospital in the capital, he said.

The highly contagious Indian variant of Covid-19 has been found in Bangladesh.
ABM Khurshid Alam, director general of Directorate General of Health Services, confirmed the development to The Daily Star.
Officials at Institute of Epidemiology Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) said that the Indian variant of coronavirus was detected in samples from Evercare Hospital in Dhaka.
According to GISAID database, the variant was found in the samples of two persons both male, aged 41 and 23.
They were exposed to the variant while visiting India recently.
IEDCR collected nasopharyngeal swab on April 28 and 29 of the two patients. The samples were analysed at the Institute for Developing Science and Health Initiatives (ideSHi) to learn about genomic sequence.
