A man who police will say tried to kill a woman at a luxury hotel in Sydney’s CBD has led officers to a backpack in bushland, allegedly containing a gun, where he was found after a two-day search.
Officers have also found notes allegedly handwritten by 41-year-old Matthew Donaldson, who was arrested with the assistance of the dog squad near Lapstone in the Blue Mountains on Thursday afternoon.
He was charged with five offences on Friday afternoon, including causing wounding/grievous bodily harm with intent to murder, wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, possess a loaded firearm in a public place, and two counts of possessing or using a prohibited weapon without a permit.
